Back From #Paradise

5/28/2013

Yesterday we got back from our second cruise within a month. Another Carnival cruise, this time just a quick weekend to Cozumel. We did a lot of fun things, but there was also a lot of sitting around getting too much sun which we don't need. There was also too much drama with customer service issues on board the ship. Again, there was a special meeting with the Hotel Director to appease us about our dissatisfaction with basic expectations. It was frustration and annoyance with having to speak up about simple things, like getting hot food and eating on a timely manner. We expected no better than we got on the Dream, but in many regards this ship Paradise could not compare.

Unfortunately, the strong majority of people in life just put up with inadequate service or products and do not bring it up to the attention of the merchant. We were wondering how could we be so unlucky to have at least of dozen problems that needed resolution in only a four day trip. I'm convinced most sheeple just shrug their shoulders and keep moving. In the end they are just as dissatisfied and complain to their peers, and vow to not patronize the vendor again - but the vendor never got a chance to improve the situation. And to be fair, the majority of our issues were corrected after contacting guest services; maintenance fixed most of the issues in our room, the dining room issue was resolved quickly, and well - who knows what will happen with the excursion we participated on. They also fixed their error on our billing and comped out all our alcohol purchases on our last day at sea.

I'm planning on canceling our next Carnival cruise that is planned for next year. But I promised myself I would inform the company in a helpful correspondance of the issues and how my expectations have not been met. We may consider a RCCL cruise, but honestly with the news of a fire yesterday on one of our favorite ships the Grandeur of the Seas, I'm not really sure I'm ready for another cruise for a while.
