Happy Holly Days

10/22/2007

Merry Christmas - we've had a great year with lots of vacations, concerts and races. Work is work - Marie continues as Gov Analyst and Scott as Master Adjudicator, both with the State of Florida over 5 years now. Scott received an award for outstanding customer service and went to Atlanta in August to the Federal SSA headquarters for the award banquet.

The dogs are getting older but still hanging in there - despite scratched eyeballs, arthritis, and allergy shots. Our house is getting older too, but very affordable and carries low tax and insurance rates so we are happy about that. No hurricanes this year to worry about.

Everyone is getting older, the parents, the grandchild and the siblings - and us. We have been blessed with excellent health (no cavities this year!) and work it by walking our 10,000 steps each day, usually part of which is at Busch Gardens. Marie also rides her bicycle to work 4 days a week to log 10 miles a day. This has helped us maintain our ideal weight, excellent health, and allows us to eat chicken wings and drink beer at our favorite pub down the road.

Vacations
Honeymoon Cruise
- In January we surprised Bill & Melissa on their honeymoon cruise to the Southern Caribbean to San Juan, St Thomas, St Lucia, Barbados. My parents went along too, so we all enjoyed the nice weather and sights. share.shutterfly.com/action/welcome?sid=0AZsWbZy2ctGLrY

Bristol TN race weekend - In March we flew to the NASCAR races and enjoyed some racing action and good BBQ meals.

Darlington SC race weekend - In May we drove to Darlington, SC for the NASCAR races and also an ARCA race. The Cup race rained out so we stayed and watched the race the next day and then bolted home. There were terrible fires in North Florida closing parts of the highway I95 which delayed us some.

Minnesota visit - For Memorial weekend, we flew to MSP to see our families. Attended lots of picnics and enjoyed walks around The Lakes, did a ride-a-long with the cops and helped our 2 yr old grandchild Sarah learn some new words. http://share.shutterfly.com/action/welcome?sid=0CauGzZyyZsXIQ&emid=sharpbshar&linkid=link5

Richmond VA - In September, we flew to Richmond to watch the final race to determine the NASCAR chase contenders. It was a great weekend with convenient arrangements that always help make a hectic race weekend more enjoyable. http://share.shutterfly.com/action/welcome?sid=0MasmTduzYvfg&emid=sharview&linkid=link5
Homestead FL - In November we flew to Miami to attend the final NASCAR race weekend of the season. We won a Ford Racing Team contest and drove a Ford F250 truck around the race track for driver introductions of the Busch Race on Saturday Night, with a race car driver in the back of the truck. I was hoping it would be Carl Edwards, but it turns out that he was on the inside pole and was in the truck in front of us. We picked the truck to ride around the polesitter who was David Ragan of the Discount Tire 6 car. There was an ESPN interview being conducted in the back of the truck and we got some good pictures. share.shutterfly.com/action/welcome?sid=0AZuGbFi2YuGLjY

Naples FL - In December we'll load up the boat for a drive south for a week at the condo fishing boating and relaxing. Bill and Melissa are joining us this year with a visit to Tampa and the condo. share.shutterfly.com/action/welcome?sid=2BcNWzdq0Yuxg
