The Throne #BWCA 7

9/14/2015
It's not as bad as you would imagine, I have been to worse facilities at ball games and festivals.
One of the first things upon arriving at a campsite is to find the latrine. Its usually on some obscure path leading out of camp, up a hill, around a corner, down a path through woods and around another corner. Most of the latrine trails were at least 50 rods away, a several minute walk.

Hope you enjoyed the journey up the path on the above video. Shame on you if you didn't watch it. Anyway, I'm glad they provided the meager facilities they did at campsites because it would have been pretty gross if they didn't. We were talking to our nephew at a family get together recently about his recent BWCA adventures earlier in August, and his son just couldn't get himself to use the latrine. He went 5 days without pooing!

Anyway, on to better topics. Here we are below on Alpine Lake gathering wood again for a fire.

Here's our friend the chipmunk who just ran circles around us in the camp. When ever there was food cooking, he would hop right up on the rock nearby hoping for a treat. Some of the campsites had very elaborate "furniture" around the fire. Some had flat rocks perched on logs that served as tables, others had a nice flat rock on the side of the fire to set hot pans on, and most of them had a pile of rocks around the back and sides of the fire grates to block wind and keep ashes in check.
