One of the things I was most looking forward to in our Boundary Waters adventure was seeing and hearing wildlife, especially the loons. The loon is the Minnesota state bird and they are plentiful up North. Every day we heard loons chattering to each other and it seems they all have different sounds and cadences to their sweet callings.
On last day we had headed out early in the morning from Seagull Lake and came upon a pair of loons playing or fishing in the water. Some people at a nearby campsite said they had been entertained by the pair all evening. The loons must be used to people because they let us get very close to get this great close up photo.
